If a trend works for me then I’ll incorporate it into my wardrobe because I like it, not because it’s a trend. I don’t recommend spending a lot on pieces that may be worn for a only a couple of years. Here are some of the seasons looks that I am loving and how to wear them.
Cobalt blue, blood orange, orchid, teal, cranberry, grey, cognac, cypress green and nudes that range from peachy to mauve are some of Fall’s hot colors. An easy way to update an outfit that hangs in your closet is to add one of the season’s colors in a pashmina, shoe or handbag.
While this cape may set you back a bit, most department stores have a house brand cashmere pashmina that is a lovely alternative.
Take advantage of the fact that one of your favorite colors is more readily available this season. The pop of color in the shoe below is unexpected and fun.
I’ve always loved green and this vintage style dress, by Stop Staring, caught my eye. Paired with cognac gloves, it’s simply beautiful.
Nature-inspired clothing and jewelry is an example of something old that is new again. These pieces by Patricia Marie Fine Jewelry (formerly Patricia Mathews Designs) are classic and modern at the same time.
Fringe is very current and a handbag is a great way to wear the trend.
Sweater dresses can be bulky (which is actually trendy this season – I just haven’t seen bulky fabrics compliment many women). This one by Haute Hippie, available at Shopbop, is wonderful and the open back is beautiful. It is available at Nordstrom in Bordeaux, as well, which is a nice alternative to black.
Plaid continues to be shown a lot. A little goes a long way and this scarf is an easy way to wear plaid.
